Observe Federation Day
Only 4 hours in 24*7 can spark countless acts of kindness, unpaid.
It has been decided unanimously in the house of the Council of FVBDOWB that the birth anniversary of Prof. Debabrabata Roy be celebrated as FEDERATION DAY with an aim to propagate his thinking & Work, as well as to motivate volunteers for the Voluntary Blood Donation Movement. FVBDOWB and its Associate 60 Organisation shall celebrate this to unite behind the theme: “Only 4 hours in 24*7 can spark countless acts of kindness, unpaid.
About the Theme:
This theme has been taken from the works of Prof. Debabrata Roy. In His several speeches, he placed special importance on Voluntarism. He always advised that a regular & timely practice of voluntary activity can bring visible changes to Society. For this activity, everybody and anybody can spend only 4 hours every week. Prof. Roy explained that 24*7=168 hours a week can be divided half into half of one-tenth, i.e., 4 hours a week is sufficient to perform any good activity. Hence regular practice of voluntarism may bring a visible difference. This way without any Govt. efforts and indulgence, without investing public money but investing a small time together a group of people may do some good to the Society. He also depicted that in the USA, it has been statistically proven that 14% of the American Services are done through paid and unpaid voluntarism. Concerning India, such a big and populated Nation, Voluntarism may be one of the ways of sustainable development.
Objectives
- To identify the role of volunteers and to recognize them
